The Nova House is a level five correctional facility that houses male inmates and is located near Dayton, southern Montgomery County. The facility is the largest male prison in Ohio, housing roughly 2,500 inmates.

The Nova House also houses pre-trial detainees, plus death penalty inmates, with the capability for carrying out executions.

In addition to the death row unit and the capability for executions, the prison also comes with a Security Housing Unit. This is a location within the Nova House, where inmates with a high chance of security risk are held for twenty-three hours a day, with one-hour recreational time.

Te prison also comes with a medium housing unit for inmates with disciplinary issues, who have however not posed any security threats to warrant their transfer to the Nova House.

The Nova House accepts mails and packages for inmates. However, there are rules that govern the mails and packages inmates can receive. Ensure you familiarize yourself with these rules to prevent the mail or package from being either confiscated or sent back to the original sender.

Sending Money

The Nova House facility allows inmates to get money through their commissary account, to help them cover certain costs while at the prison facility.

To send money to the facility, you will need to join the JAPY service, a common money transfer service across multiple prisons.

You will need to register to the website to start using it.

Phone calls

When it comes to phone calls, there are two options. The inmate can make a collect call and let the receiver pay for it, or the inmate can sign up for third party phone services acceptable to the Nova House.

Third-party phone services are much cheaper, and most inmates will prefer them compared to collect calls.

Once you have been processed into the Nova House, an inmate will get the chance to set up their third party phone accounts before they can start using them.

Visitation

For the sake of security at the Nova House, visiting an inmate will come with a no-contact visitation. This means that you will only see the inmate through video, with the visitation lasting up to thirty minutes.
